Cobalt oxide (CoO) is a metallic coloring agent that mainly produces the colour blue in glazes at all temperatures. Cobalt is the most powerful colorant used in ceramic glazes and is stable in most systems.

NOTE: it can be hazardous if fired at high temperatures and if the ore itself is roasted in kilns, it could melt and eat through the container walls (if fired at high temperatures).it could produce glaze pecking if not properly sieved or ball milled fine tuning of amounts of cobalt oxide may be needed
