Low Fire

Low fire clay (commonly known as earthenware) are easy to work with and are perfect for hand building, sculpting and wheel throwing. They are usually fired upto Cone 06 and rarely taken above Cone 04. When fired, they do not shrink or warp excessively and are comparatively much lighter and hence are ideal for large sculptural pieces. However, since they are fired at lower temperatures they are not as durable and are porous, hence need to be paired with food-safe glazes to make functional, waterproof tableware.
