It is a translucent (Celadon) type of glaze. It shows the clay body color partially.

And the glaze settles and creates a darker color shade in the deeply carved areas.

More Info:

1) Ideal for white clay bodies. Apply it thicker on the dark clay bodies to get the right results.

2) Recommended specific gravity of a liquid glaze is 1.30-1.35 to get the expected results. 

2.a) Recommended specific gravity of a liquid glaze for Sandalwood and Coffee brown clay body is 1.35-1.40 to get the expected results.
