Glaze Firing Services Kiln Minor Damage

To ensure the continued integrity of our studio equipment and a smooth glaze firing process, please review the following damage penalty guidelines:

1. Responsibility for Damage

• Artists are responsible for any damage caused to the kiln or kiln shelves by their glazed pieces during firing.

2. Types of Damage

• Damage may include, but is not limited to:
  • Melting of glazes that adhere to kiln shelves.
  • Breakage of kiln shelves or other components due to excessive dripping or running of glazes.
  • Any other damage resulting from improperly prepared pieces.

3. Assessment of Damage

• The studio will conduct an assessment of any damage following the glaze firing.
• Documentation of damage will be recorded, including photographs and detailed descriptions.

4. Penalty Fees

• Minor Damage: ₹1000 (e.g., Glaze drip to shelves).
• Moderate to Severe Damage: Fees for moderate  to Significant damage to kiln components will be assessed by the studio, and the artist will be contacted separately regarding the fee.

5. Preventive Measures

• To minimize the risk of damage:
  • Apply glazes carefully, ensuring even coverage and avoiding thick areas.
  • Use glaze cookies or clay slabs to catch any drips.
  • Test glazes on sample pieces to understand their behavior during firing.
