A ceramic artist’s creative process begins with choosing the right clay. Clay bodies are usually categorized by the temperature or the cone value at which they mature. The three basic categories are Low Fire, Mid Fire and High Fire Clay. Each of these differ in plasticity, texture, feel, and produce dramatically different results when fired or paired with compatible glazes.
